So, I've done alot of research, and cant come down to chosing an OS, I am running the original OS from Bell mobility: 5.0.0.517.

I see there's pros/cons for everyone of them, but which one is the most solid OS out there?

Should I go hybrid?

I'm looking to upgrade, and cant decide!

The most solid is actually .517. But I'm enjoying .983 now, so long as you don't use bedside mode (or if you do, if you include the fix).

Stay where you're at, 517 and 451 are the best.

It's in my sig, .862, and I haven't had any problems with it and its been on my phone for a couple weeks.

i think 983 by far is the best i have no problems not sure what the bedside mode issue is I havent noticed any bugs and i use the alarm every night.

I'd stay on 517 if I were you, especially if you use any OpenGL games. I'm using a 713 based hybrid, which has been working well for me for about 3 months, but I'm not having the robotic voice issue (well, I did once, but...), so I'm fine with it for now. 517 seemed like the best overall though looking back.

I just find that my battery drains real fast, I wake up at 5:30am turn on the phone, and by bedtime its almost dead!

Is that normal?

Most anyone will say 'it depends'. How do you use your phone during a typical day? It you are in email, texting, surfing the web, listening to music, etc., then the battery will drain fairly quickly. I get a little over 24 hours, but then my phone gets used mostly for email, text, and the occasional call. Once in a while I'll hit the web for scores or to look up a movie or phone number. As they say in car ads: YMMV (Your Mileage May Vary)

428 was the best, but with 517 I noticed browser speed enhancements. Since 450 the auto complete bug was there, but has been resolved in 983.

517 did a lot of weird things and features would just stop working. 607 had odd browser issues where sites would stop loading and go "stale". 713 was just as bad as 607.

Currently I'm running 983 with the besdside mode when on ac fix and its running fine. No robotic voices but not having opengl working sucks...

Try 451 then, I had better battery life on 451 than I did on 517.

Best OS I've ever had (tested all up to .983) is the 9550/9520 - .841 Hybrid (.713 base for the 9550). The keyboard is almost perfectly smooth with very little lag. I type fast so that's a huge requirement for me. Also, the browser is the fastest for me, and the battery life based on my typical usage lasts me a day and a half, though I plug it in every night anyway. Unless my girlfriend is sleeping over (she hogs the charger and doesn't bring hers >)

JP do a battery pull on it , I just had to do that with mine and now its pretty much normal again . do a physical battery pull not the app .
Now it holds a charge til next night so basically from 12-14 hrs to 36-40 hrs new after pull .

Yea, even with a battery pull, still really bad battery life!
