As most of use should know Steve Jobs declared 7" tablets to be DOA as they're too small.
I'm setting out to prove him wrong.
So I took a picture of the PlayBook, printed it to scale, and tried to see where I could fit it without bending or crumpling it. this is what I got.
PlayBook Vs Storm Case
PlayBook vs 15.4" laptop
PlayBook vs Typing Thumbs
PlayBook vs sweater
PlayBook vs Jeans (with admittedly big pockets) (no-it's NOT folded)
So as you can see, it fits pretty much anywhere.
Now you try.
take this image (right-click, save as), then open in Paint. then print on a standard Letter page. it should come out as 5.1"x7.6", the size of the PlayBook. (other methods may work, but this is tested)
Now take pictures of it stuffed into purses, jackets, you name it (bonus points for getting the thickness right by using cardboard or something.)
I never buy Job's spin-meister BS. IMO, the iCant is too large and heavy. I tried holding it numerous times and find it too onerous. I've said since it came out, that what I want is a 7" tablet. RIM is on the right track, IMO. I just hope there are plenty of apps for it, it's not too expensive, battery life is decent, and it doesn't glitch much.
I like the concept there with the pictures... Steve can go pound sand somewhere because he knows Apple can't **** out a decent 7-8" tablet in time to compete with the Playbook and Galaxy Tab... Rather than everyone going to 10" to take on the iPad everyone is going 7" which will leave the iPad out on it's own as the outlier... I bet Steve never saw that coming!!!
you have to remember you are using a piece of paper. the real thing is hard and has no give. you wont be able to slide it in your pocket like the paper at all.
This is just a quick comparison shot I took with my Torch. On the left is my trusty Creative Zen Vision W, up top is a DSi XL, on the bottom is a PSP, and on the right is my old broken Torch.
The printout is just a tiny bit smaller than the measurements grahamf.

I was thinking this too earlier. I can understand sticking it in the pocket of your sweater or hoodie, but once you get get the real thing I doubt you'd be very comfortable with this relatively big flat slab in your pocket.
Different strokes for different folks. I don't like the size of the Ipad, tried it, hated it. The size of the Playbook looks perfect to me.
I guess Jobs should take into consideration that not everyone likes the same thing and to just accept that fact.

Howie, this is really only true until you hit your late 40's, LOL
If that was a pass-through pocket, total win! I think the size will be great for usability. Really excited for the PlayBook! I will be skipping upgrading my netbook for this one.
