My "T" & "Y" key are wearing & I can see the backlight shining through now I had my 8130 for 2 years & never had any key wear. Anyone else experience this?

Not even the slightest bit of wear here. Heard of this happening to quite a few 9650 owners. Rare to the 9700, from what I've seen at least.

A guy, spends good money on a phone, you expect it to last a bit longer than a month. I would expect it if I had dropped it or something, but I treat it like gold.

How long have you had your 9700?

No problems with mine yet but I haven't had it for very long. Never seen any other posts on this problem as yet. Had the 8320 for 2 years and that was fine.

Best idea ever. I'm going to start doing that too, cause the edges of the keys are whitening.

I've had my 9700 for a year and everyone of my keys has wear, I am a heavy power user, but also a nail biter so maybe I just have hard skin!

Have had my 9700 for 6 months, all the keys edges have worn through, and two of the three silver bars have cracked at one end. Overall is a great phone, just a little thing that catches my eye once in a while.

Does not bother me too bad, was more curious if this is what to expect or if I was flying solo out here

a month of use and this kind of wear is not at all normal, though i'm pretty sure that it's not covered under warranty. i've seen this with only one 9700 before.

Not a 9700, but my 9650's E, S, D (the dot), G, H and Space have paint wear. I was covering it with sharpie for a while but it wears off fairly quickly so I gave up.

My curve had paint wear as well, I don't know if its my fingernails or if I just type too much.

Ive had my 9700 for 10 months or so...and I just started getting wear on the righthand side sym, aA & return keys. I use them a lot, so I guess its expected. I also had wear on my 8300, 8310 & 8320 as well.

I had It (T and Y) on my 9000 after a year or so, but my 9700 shows no sign of this yet. I guess the trackpad requires less downwards force to react and that saves my keys below...... For now

They make an industrial strength sharpie that will last you pretty much forever. I use it on my PVD-coated watch when it gets chips/scratches. It's developed to withstand extreme temperatures and wear, applicable to metallic and plastic surfaces. The only down side is that it has a slight purple hue to it in certain light and at certain angles, which is noticeably different than the black of whatever your applying it to. Still, I'd rather have it there than chipped paint, however I'd think it quite difficult to apply when you've got the numbers, letters, & symbols to work around, might look kind of funny if you don't have a steady painter's-like hand.

I've actually never had keys show wear on either the 8320 or 8900. Even after a year of heavy use. Maybe because I have long, skinny fingers and typical small girl hands?

The little dot on the D key that sticks out is faded....but its not a big deal at all. Looks kinda cool actually
