Verizon is selling "certified pre-owned" Storm2s for $269 with a one-year warranty.
Hopefully, not every $44 trade-in is resellable -- that is, hopefully, Verizon picks through them and only sells the ones in the best condition.
But still, that's pretty low-ball. I just paid $220 for a nice condition Storm2 w/ charger; I seem 'em listed from $180 to $250+ on Craigslist in the San Francisco area.
You can go to Gazelle.com or or Nextworth.com or google "sell used electronics" and easily get double or more than what Verizon is offering.
Bought my 9550 used from one of Gazelle's ebay listings for $260. It was indeed in PERFECT condition as they stated. So Verizon selling them from around $260 pre-owned seems reasonable. As for $40, I'd like at least $100 for mine.
My Bold is worth 80 to them! Now of course they are gonna low ball you, they need to make money. They need to refurb the devices that come in, which costs money, so add that to the cost, plus they need a profit TOO. So I GUESS their offer is fair. Still I'm gonna use the CB Market Place, when the time comes.
With the first FAQ being "What is Verizon Wireless HopeLine?" and links and graphics for Hopeline.. it could appear to some as the collected phones are donated by VZW to the HopeLine program/organization.
you are paying more than 200 for a storm 2? you are insane!
Well, if that makes you feel good, then so be it. I'd much rather have paid much less, that much is for sure, but fact is it's about the going rate. But it's not like $200 is unaffordable -- especially considering I'm paying nearly that much to Verizon for service each month (well, technically my employer is).
But seriously, I was pretty happy with my S1, but the constant struggles with memory and 2x a day reboots were killing it for me. The screen size and rez, the Surepress, the keypad -- those are all the reasons I like the Storm over traditional BlackBerries. It's just a more usable device for me. So $220 for a nearly new S2 off contract was a small price to pay to get me through to the release of the "real" Storm 3 (or 4, or whatever they're going to name it) OR until my company's IT allows us to switch to Android.
Now the funny thing is I'll get at least $50 -- and probably more -- when I put my old-*** 9530 on eBay, scuffs and all. THAT seems insane.
