So compared to the other phones in which the os6 leak came out for, the 9700 has half the memory of both phones... Is it true or even possible that when this os 6 is actually released, it will increase the onboard memory? And if not will upgrading to the os 6 make the phone run slow? or is the 256mb sufficient?

The 9700 will not need the buggy, laggy touchscreen portion of the OS, so we should have quite a bit of memory left

It will be a tight fit, but I feel OS6 will run fine for the 9700 user that has under 10 apps.

Since the touchscreen portion is left out, it pretty much cuts the OS size in half.

There are videos of it running on the 9700, we all just need patience for a leak!

LOL! the 9780 os6 (which is same as 9700 except the ram/space and camera updates) and the 9800 os 6 are both around 300mb installed with 5 apps. didn't matter if it was touch or not. the os was same size after install.
so when it gets released for the 9700 it will have to cut some features out or it will be a completely stripped version and will allow you to prob choose the addons you want which will help in giving you some free space. just look at the 8330 when when it got the os5 update.. there was only 25-30mb free after and had memory probs all time after alot of txt and browsing.
as for the lag on the 9800 there is none what so ever after installing .214 or .225.
get your facts strait ronniebar before spreading incorrect bs.

Well BGR reported they had about 68 MB of memory on start up on their 9700 with OS 6. That's a decent amount of space.

i had the 9780 which is basically the exact same phone with the few upgrades and my was almost 284mb exactly with only 4 apps install. so the question i ask is if you only have 256mb in the 970 and my 9780 with 4 apps was 284. what then was removed to make for all that free space?

I wish I could tell you. But here's the thing I can tell you off of experience with past devices...OS 5 for the 9000 and 8330 are much smaller than the one for the 9700. Everything I've read says the version of the OS the 9700 will be getting will have all the bells and whistles so obviously they've optimized it to work. Here's the video if you're curious (the 68 MB of free memory is in the comment section on page two).

On my Bold 9650 OS 6.0.0.222 takes up 170 MB. I would imagine the OS for the 9700 would be somewhat similar. This would leave about 85 MB available for apps and other 'add-on' services. I have a lot of apps (20+) on my 9650 and am still under 245 MB used.
I think there will be enough room especially if they streamline the 9700 OS as much as possible.
