Successfully changed the bezel on the Torch 9800 to red. This was definitely an annoying blackberry/ smart phone I have ever changed. I am very happy with the end results. Let me know what you peeps think.
congrats man!! i took apart every blackberry and after looking at the video .. i don't know if i have the courage to do it! all those flex cables and slots..
maybe after a bit of time ; > but i'd have to choose something i would be happy with for a long time, cause unlike my 9700 which i change bi weekly haha..
Wow. nice. Something different. I'm not sure if I can take apart my torch, seems more harder compared to when I changed the bezels on my old 8310, 8900, and my 9700. Good job.
The whole process was pretty straight forward. The biggest issue I found was taking out the lcd screen (not the digitizer). GStreamInc's disassembly video on youtube says the lcd screen is very "flimsy," but on top of that there is a lot of adhesive holding the lcd in place. My suggestion is to pry part of the top and floss it through or just buy another lcd screen to put on the new housing. For those of you who want to buy a new lcd, you can check your lcd model number after you lift up the digitizer screen (mine was LCD-26252 001/111-1A) and for the call button, blackberry button, etc.. I reapplied it on with some scotch permanent double sided tape. For those of you who are bothered by the wobble, you can fix that too with a torx 3 screwdriver when you lift the sticker and three screws is exposed on the left and right side of the sticker. All you have to do is tighten the top ones I believe. Obviously this will void the warranty, but just throwing it out there for those of you who like to know.
To confirm the tightening of the screws under the lcd "completely" got rid of any screen wobble whatsoever? (wonder why RIM didn't do that in the first place, hopefully it won't have a negative affect in the long turn use)...thanks again!

+1
I would also like to know if this solves the wobbly screen issue
Disassembled mine until I got to the unlock/mute bezel. Sticked on, or tricky catch here? Don't wanna be breaking any plastic parts. Broke my Javelin's speakerhole bezel by dismantling it the Tour way.
