After using this 9780 for 24 hours, I have to comment on it's build quality.

I have to say it is rock solid with a perfectly level touch pad, no light leaks and the best keyboard I have had from RIM in a long time. You can squeeze it and no creaking sound, all the parts fit together perfectly!

Maybe RIM has learned a lot from the 9700 and made improvements on the 9780 production run. From handling mine, I think they really have

That was one huge gripe I had with the 9700 was the lousy build quality. The one I got was total junk and I took it back the next day. Hopefully I can get a good 9780

    That's great.
We need a solid rim product.
I'm a big bb user/fan but the fit-n-finish has been crap lately.
Definately good news and definately will buy.
I read it was coming to Rogers mid nov

White letters/numbers on my 9780 keys but mine is unbranded and it might be different for different carriers.

I'm pretty sure all of them have the white number pad now.. I wish they'd go back to red..

Seems like only CDMA carriers get red numbered berries here in the states...

Really? I wonder if the 9650 and 9780's keyboards are interchangeable. Something to look into :P

TMO's 8900 has red numbers. I prefer it as well.

Thanks for the info on this
I wasn't too worried about it as RIM is using the same chassis as the 9700 and it seems that after the initial run they got their quality control under...well, control

I do prefer the red numbering on the keypad, but the all white isn't bad. I can't decide whether to wait for this device or just get the Torch. I think that the 9780 will be better, so I will hold out for that. I don't know how I feel about going to the smaller keyboard from my 9000. Its one of the things that I like the most about my Bold. The upgrade in the camera will be nice. I don't really care too much for OS 6, but the extra memory will be a plus just in case I decide to download any apps.

My 9700 was making weird sounds even when I was trying to get it out of its case! Really bad build! But with my 9780, the only sound I hear is the ringtone!!! Best ever BB build.

Can anyone please comment on the built quality of 9780.... I like 9700, but the creaking bezel ruins the whole experience.

Secondly its launching in black bezel.....rite? Any more colors to come? like graphite grey?

I am totally agree with you, i still have 8703 as my back up device, it still in great condition, not even one mark or scratch, i think I'll keep it for rest of my life just as legendary RIM device ))

The keyboard feels a little small to me for some reason even though I upgraded from the 9700 having said that its one of the smoothest RIM keyboards I've ever typed on. The only build issue I've noticed thus far is the bezel seems to be a little off from the bottom but thats nothing major.
