When I make a call from my 9700 and I press the 'L' key (before the call connects or during the call) the following happens:

On the top right hand side next to the speaker icon a small rectangular box appears with 5 '+' signs ascending.

When I press the 'L' key again the descend.

I can not hear any difference to to the call and I can not figure out what this does.

I have searched around and can not find out what this does. The only idea I had was it might be something to do with Induction loops?

Any ideas?
