For a true poll covering all the latest OS versions, you really should have included .743 .714 .656 .602 .593 .586 and .545

There was no need to create a new thread. Keep in mind also when you make a
request for the Mods in a thread you are assuming we read every thread.

Better option is to just report the thread. That assures all of us will see it and one
of us will act on it.

On your thread question, all the polling in the world will not provide you a definitive
answer as each reply will be completely subjective. ("Best" anything will always lead
    you there)

I am on .602 (my carriers latest release.) I have not upgraded beyond that as it
(as is most OS upgrades) quite pointless and of almost no benefit. That is as
    honest as it will get.

But can you please delete this thread and revive the new one I posted as it has more OS releases?

    Thanks

Edited this poll to include your new options. That way the people that already
voted would not have to do so all over again.
Right, thanks, but if you notice, the poll results don't correspond to what the users have voted for in the message.....is that right?

    For example....Phil voted for 656....

almost every thread for every os on the 9700 has people disagreeing. Bottom line is there is no best. Only the one that works best in your area

& would agree with others here that u really need to try for urself based ur loca & carrier.
I'm on ATT in NJ & have tried both .862 & .714 after stock & .656 is where I ended up. For me the .862 & .714 had flaky radio/3G signal for my phone/location & cell serv provider. Good luck

.862, because it's the latest. I've done 15 - 20 OS upgrades on 2 BB's and I can recall only 2 occasions where the latest was not the greatest. ! was TMO's official 4.5.0.81 which was a POS. Fortunately a high version came out pretty quickly to upgrade to. The other occasion was I forced to downgrade from an OS that many people quickly realized was no good.

I think I must have tried every OS available for the 9700, from .296 to .862 (and a few hybrids in between) and I can honestly say that there has only been one version that I definitely could not live with.

That was .415 as the radio on that one, for me in the UK was absolutely dire! I was struggling to get any kind of signal anywhere... even gprs!

Every other build has been fine, and if it was preloaded on my phone (and I didn't know any better) I'd happily have lived with it, and worked round it's minor bugs and annoyances.

Unfortunately I found this place, and now I do know better

That said, I still believe that as an overall package, and a good balance between speed, stability, reception and battery life... for me .656 is the daddy!

It's interesting to see that 862 has taken the lead while in the main 862 thread you'll see many complain about bad batter life (24 hours for 862 vs 2.5 days for 714)
