I put my USB into my 9700 and my computer and it sucessfully installed. Now i cant seem to find where it is. Its not in "My Computer" where i checked first. I have searched for it and everything. Anyone? Thanks!!
You need to enable Mass Storage Mode on the BlackBerry. Go to Options>Memory and change Auto enable mass storage mode when connected to prompt or yes. Save your changes.
Yup, just did that now aswell and still nothing. This happens with my other computer too and both are new with Windows 7. I used to have the Bold 9000 and it always asked if i wanted to turn mass storage mode on when i put the usb in and it worked fine but this phone never asks and doesnt connect. It says it was sucessfully installed though, twice now!!
On your PC go to device manager, click on Universal serial bus controllers, then double click on each USB root hub. Make sure under power management "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is not checked.
Now, i just unplugged the USB again and put it back in and it says "One of the USB Devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it". It then gives me a bunch "Root Hubs" to choose from and "Unknown Device is highlighted in black. What is going on here lol!!
Yah man, i dont know what to do right now, this is so weird. Theres nothing wrong with the phone or cables, i just think its some setting that needs to be changed!!
You sound as frustrated as I did!
In the end, I only really used that connection to transfer music to the MMC card. Now I have to go through the hassle of removing it and using a USB card reader.

Goto Control Panel> User Accounts> Change User Account Settings and select Never Notify.
Restart comp for settings to take effect and then plug in and you should be all good.
Its a Windows 7 thing that is kinda stupid.

That's not the problem either. I made that change within the first few days of installing Windows 7 when it was released. It's not been changed since.
