Is anyone else having an issue trying to update BBM? I have gone into blackberry app world and the only version available for update is the version 5.0.0.57 that I already have on my device. Tired going to blackberrymessenger.com link gives a proxy error message. Tried updating from BBM itself and it states cannot update. Has RIM pulled this version? As all avenues to down load are leading me to proxy errors. If anyone has the link I would appreciate having the link. Thank you

I updated to the 5.0.1.38 version and now bbm has disappeared. I have no idea where it is or how to get it back. I think you should just stick to the version you have to prevent this from also happening to you.

Go to blackberry.com/messenger or blackberry.com/bbm on your browser. Worked fine for me.

Nope mine is still there in the Instant Messaging folder. Have you tried reinstalling it? Or rebooting your BB?

Yep. I've rebooted my phone like a dozen times and still nothing. Deleted and reinstalled too. This has never happened to me.

Mine has done that a few times it seems to want to delete the old one but forgets to reinstall the actuall app, but it is actually there in your memory.

Just reinstall it and do a reboot and or battery pull and it should be there

Sometimes app world gets screwy when installing apps so you have to do it twice redundant i know but that usually what i have to do

most likely it is hidden in the IM folder or directly. Look in Options > Applications > add-on to see if BBM is listed. The link from CB worked fine for me X3.

I tried to upgrade over the air thru BB app World and lost the BBM icon and the function of text messaging. Had to delete the original BBM from my phone and reinstall. Ill try again to update directly from BB site.

i tried updating last night it wiped my BBM out.

i've been trying all day to install it back, and nothing works. app world keeps bringing me to 5.0.0.57 but wont install it (keeps bring me back to "My World")

and the websites all have errors. pretty infuriating.

just another issue to be filed under "things RIM can't do right"

Thanks for the replies I was beginning to think it was just me. Why does RIM do this release an update and after a few short hours no one can take advantage of the update. Hmmm Iphone 4 is starting to sound pretty good. I am sure OS 6 will be useless unless you get the torch. Makes me not want to be a blackberry user at all. I truly think RIm could not care at all about it's customer base.

I updated it on my gfs 9700 and everything went smooth, but the only thing I noticed is all of the contact pics are HUGE! You get like 4 contacts only on the screen at once. Is this normal for the 9700 build? I installed it on my 9000 and it looks similar to the .57 sizewise.

OMG the world is ending! It wont let me install the newest bbm today! I NEED it right now or else I'm going iphone or android!

Give it a break guys.. Give it some time for things to work themselves out.

It's pretty bad when App World deletes the current version of BBM and you're left with nothing on your device because their servers are so overloaded you can't even access the pages to install ANYTHING.
