    i just got the new blackberry desktop manager and when i connected my bold 9700 to the computer it says new software upgrade available 5.0.0.862. but when i check the blackberry website for the bell 9700 it says current os is 5.0.0.545. so what should i do update or not?

    That's just happened with me on Vodafone UK, and is very common now.

    When a carrier releases an OS update, as a customer you will firstly be directed to the BlackBerry OTA update site to carry out the process. It can then take a week or so before RIM get round to adding that new OS to their main OS download site under your carrier name, for public use.

    As for whether you should update or not... that's your choice

    I was wondering what was up with this too.. Got the email to upgrade but no upgrade available.. Guess I'll see it soon. What's different from .545 and .862
