Many people don't know that it's possible to use your mobile phone as a modem to connect to the internet on your computer. This process is known as tethering. It works with a wide variety of mobile devices, including Blackberry.

You simply need to connect your phone to your PC via a USB cable. You can then establish a 3G/HSDPA connection. Alternatively, you can also use your SIM card with a 3G card (more info: 3G Laptop Card) if your mobile proves to be a hassle.

The best way to get started quickly is to install the software on your PC that comes included with your phone (can also be downloaded on the manufacturers website).

That would be the BlackBerry Desktop Manager, right? As for the downloading it from the site, could I just use the DM disc that came with my phone or would it HAVE to be the newest version of it?

Fixmo Extend is another, less expensive option alternative to Tether.

Another vote for Tether. I downloaded the trial for it prior to a trip back in the Summer (I didn't want to pay $12-15 a day for hotel WiFi or have to drag my netbook to a free hotspot.) and it worked for my purposes.
