There really is no Skype on the Berry... I have a feeling most cell carriers would not appreciate this, since it would be taking away from their business!!
Besides, the call quality would probably lack because it would be channeled through your data connection.
The only thing I can think of is EQO. Check it out
For those of you using this: how's the call quality? I've got a nation-wide My5 but it'd be nice to be able to call some of my friends who're out of town and aren't on my list...
from my understanding of iskoot, it really is not truly a "skype for cellphones" as it in fact still makes a cellular talk call (aka minutes) to a skype server, and only at that point does the call go over the data network...
given the preponderance of no roaming/no long distance plans then it seems to me that iskoot only has benefit when making overseas call, or am i missing something?
iSkoot is good if you've got minutes and are in the network that the program dials. Doesn't work very well for me because I'm in a 519 area while it tries to dial a 647 number.
iSkoot is like using a calling card service. With a set number of access numbers. Except I can just pay $3.95/month or whatever and be set.
Iskoot does a good job but the software still needs work. My daughter (who lives in Japan) and I are both Skype users. We talk / video PC to PC. With Iskoot I call her Skype PC. The Iskoot calls a long distance number (its server) which connects you to the network which in turns rings my daughter's computer in Japan. The only charge is your usage of your cell monthly mins. The quality of the call is very good for the price.
I've tried iskoot and im+. The call quality is consistantly better on im+. But iskoot is free, so that is what I have loaded until a real skype client comes along.
