9630. Horrible device. Can't believe I lasted almost an entire year with that piece of junk. Thank god for Verizon's FRU policy as I ended up with a 9650 and am loving it!

Tell us what you really think - don't be shy!
I don't think my Tour was totally terrible but RIM should never have unleashed the poorly designed trackball on the world. That was very unfair.
I may be incorrectly reading into their knowledge base but one would expect that they knew from prior trackball designs that people had to clean them which could be done without total disassembly. They internalized the assembly and it was like boarding a plane with too many liquids - it cannot be done by a mere mortal. The Bold is great (until we find its inherent weaknesses)
I had a tour. Not one problem with it whatsoever. Trackball was perfect, never got stuck. It seems like verizon tours had all these issues but everyone I know with sprint tours didn't have problems either.
Anyway I have the bold now and love it more than the tour! Plus I'm OS6 ready now.

Welcome back from Greece.
Thanks F2. I don't think we will ever know why or how the 9630 ended being such a flawed device. It isn't really fair either, because the trackball was the only consistent issue across the board (although I did have one device where if you touched the keyboard the screen would ripple like crazy), but the thing is it only takes one negative to ruin a ton of positives. Bottom line, the 9630 should have never existed and the 9650 should have been the first next-gen BlackBerry to hit Verizon.
I've said this a few times already, but the Droid is not primarily a communications device. It serves as a decent entertainment device, mediocre navigation device, and a poor package of communication features. The email client is a greek tragedy, the keyboard input is not up to par, and it requires two handed operation. With the blackberry, you can do most anything with a thumb - one hand required. You need two hands to operate the Androids. Battery life is significantly greater with the Blackberry.
The Browsing experience on the Droid is much better, however, that will likely be equalized when OS6 comes out.

Really??? A mediocre navigation device???? The DROID has the BEST navigation tools of any phone turn by turn with google maps. There is NO phone on the market that comes close. Although I love my Bold I miss google navigation

That's a true statement, probably one of the things I will miss about my Droid but then again I don't travel much besides one summer trip.
Storm 1 . Tried the Droid for a couple weeks while the Bold was delayed on Verizon and it was a no brainier to send it back. The 9650 is a joy and does everything I need it to do with 307 MB to spare.

Yes, mediocre - as compared to a dedicated navigation system from Garmin, or something that might be integrated into your car. Sure, you can speak your destination, say it 8 times, and then growl, take it out of the car holster and disconnect from the power outlet, manually type it in - usually requiring you to pull over. Turn by turn works, but not in any remote locations without 3G coverage. Slow to recalculate, and the speech recognition is not all that accurate.
A dedicated system functions much better as a navigation device. Thus, even though the Google Maps is the best there is on a cellular phone at present, it is still a mediocre system in the grand scheme of things. And the Blackberry options are worse.
Well in that logic my mac book pro is the best email device and browsing experience and my bold is a mediocre email device. But its great for making calls.
