I've looked through the forum a little but couldn't find my answer.

Is there a way to password lock my BlackBerry by pressing a key? Sorta like how you can keyboard lock it by holding down the * key. I don't keep it locked everywhere, just at work. But as of now, I have to press menu key, go to options, then password, then enable, type in my password, press back, save - just to lock it. Is there an easier way?

    Thanks.

Alt + enter or If Dial From Home Screen is off, then you can use the K button.

These will password lock your phone immediately

    To set password timeout
    Options Icon
    Password
    Security Timeout: 1 Minute-1Hour

Your BlackBerry will automatically lock after the specified timeout period.

I believe you are asking for an easy way to go to locked mode. Not sure if it is the same as the 8530, but with the 8530, from the main screen, you press and hold the A button for about 1 second. It even has a little lock symbol on the button.

Doesn't pressing the A* button just lock the keypad? The OP wants to password lock the device if i'm not mistaken.
