I recently got the tour for verizon. I wanted to know what os is the best to use? I am using the .591 now.

That has been asked and answered many times. Rather than retyping it all, here you go:

That is the short answer...but definitely agree with you....anything but .591

.643 has been working great for me...I tried .662 but i found that it had a lot of memory leak. It may have just been my experience with it....but .643 is really a solid OS just wish they would come out with it officially.

    Yes!

.6XX is faster than 4.7 or 5.0.0.4XX/.5XX and it has great battery life.

Really??? I thought I read that Sprint's .624 was a nightmare and had all kinds of browser issues.... I have .484 right now, and it's pretty good (so far anyway, knock on wood!)!!!

I should have said excluding .624 - .643 or .662 are the way to go for sure.

Hmmm.... Thanks for the info! I'm always nervous about loading an unofficial OS, but given the track record of Sprint's "official" OSes, I'm not sure they're much better, hahahaha.... You seem really knowledgeable, so just one more question if you don't mind me asking! What do you think about the 5.0.0.484 versus the newest Sprint one, the 5.0.0.624? I have the option of upgrading to the .624, but I feel like that one is even MORE buggy than the .484. Thoughts?

If you're looking for low/no bug performance that will get you through the day, .484 is a good solid choice. The new .624 is definitely faster OS and browser wise, but there is the browser click issue where hyperlinks sometimes don't work when clicking with the trackball. Others have reported a few more problems with .624 also (I didn't run it long enough to find any), but I don't believe any were major.

Don't be weary of "unofficial" OS versions. The only difference between an official and unofficial is that the carrier allows you to directly download the official from them. Many times, as is the case with .6XX builds, the version not available for download through the carrier is better. I would load .643 or .662 if I were you - there is no long term harm that can happen, and if you don't like it you can always downgrade to the "official" OS. Think of .643 or .662 as the perfect blend between .484 and .624 - they're as bug free as it gets.

I went back to 484 because 624 had the browser click issue that was driving me crazy. I have no issues with 484. I guess I will wait for another upgrade when they get around to fixing the browser click issue.

Carrier is irrelevant. Just delete a file called. Vendor.xml from the OS (on your PC) before you load it on your phone. Even if you don't do that it'll probably be fine.

Unofficial OS's have generic vendor.xml files, so you don't even need to bother deleting it if you install .662

The OS only comes as a .exe file, so you need Windows

Thank you so much for all the information! I'm going to try out .484 for a little while longer, but then I'll probably make the jump to .662. Or I'll make someone else I know do it first because I'm a whimp.... LOL
