ROFL, Got a 507 white screen on the 2nd boot and was like "wth??" Then it started loading the apps back in.
Lol, that was nice, gets the blood pumping
EDIT: Fully loaded and backups in place, running a boot time test now... 00:05:18:254... Nothing new here. Booted up to 125mb. AppWorld is missing althou all other apps are fine. Time to some post-update cod cleaning.
Anybody who had trackpad problems in .554 and .592, if you get the time to install it please do let us know if the problem recurs or if they finally fixed it.
don't bother, it still has trackpad issue. downgrading back to 509 now
Really? I'm really sorry to know that. This one looked like a solid version so far.
Can anybody else who had the issu try and see if it's not an isolated case?
EDIT: Before I go to sleep, just noticed that fast forwarding is still per second... does not annoy me but could be an issue to some. I wonder if using modules from .411 could solve this issue... but would make people lose the shuffle/repeat controls.
What do you have to clean up. This is something I have never done. Should I be doing this?
What do I clean up:
Using Maxmem I remove the sample images and video, Voice activated dialing and RIM Internal tools (then I remove Maxmem itself).
After that I load MCP and hunt down telefonica_zen, all unnecessary language leftovers (portuuese from portugal, docs2go's whole set of languaage garbage, msn, bbm), help files, usually the gmail plug in (thou I decided to give it a go again this time).
If you should do it is up to you really. This keeps me around 127-8mbs (considering things I already removed during OS install). Just like apps, I don't like keeping stuff I never use on the 8520. So find out what you don't really need (i.e.: I never use BBMaps so I never install it) and get rid of it!
Back on point, OS is running steady, Battery levels at 67%.
Ok, finally got it installed (I hate it when work gets in the way of BB fun!) No problems with the install, no trackpad bug (but then I never had that issue) Gained a small amount of memory with this leak, so far so good. Will run it through it's paces today and report back. Do I see anything that would be a game changer over .592, .554 or official .509? Not yet. But dont let that stop you from trying it yourself!
gonna try it sometime; probably monday...I'm going to install it and copy all of the java files from the native 8520 folder that will be created during install into some temp location. Then reinstall the 8530 OS onto the PC, so the device types are valid in the eyes of Apploader. I'll copy the 8520 Java files into the 8530 java folder and leave the 8530 radio intact.
Thanks for the spam.
Please notice that whatever the carriers fart, the real release number is NOT .860.
I never called anyone a noob here on crackberry before but you sir almost got it.
