Is this the norm? After upgrading the OS, my Tour has been eating battery like no other. I already turned off GPS and turned my mobile network to 1xev.
I took my tour out of the charger like 3 min ago and had like a 2 min conversation and the battery already went down to 90%. Is there anything else I can do or do I have to wait until Verizon comes out with an updated OS? Thanks in advance for any help.
If i had a $1 for each time i see a topic saying Battery is draining fast after update i would have Free service for life, minus $1 cuz one of the topics are mine, LOL
I'm not downgrading, just keeping my plugin handy .... but I am BBMing a lot while hubby is in Germany, so when he gets home, I'll be see if it is draining or not.
I just used BBSAK to remove the gmail files which I do not use. I hope I see a slow down on my Tour. I like everything about this build except the battery drain.
Have any of you guys noticed that you can't remove BB Messenger 5.0? It's a part of the Core once I upgraded my VZW Tour to 5.0.
I've already removed the gmail CODs, could BBM be sucking the battery down as well?
I've tried Desktop Manager and BBSAK, but I'm not sure which CODs to remove for BBM.
EDIT: Found the answer - if you downloaded the latest version from blackberry.com/messenger, bbm will be moved to Add-On in the app menu so you can remove it if you want.
It's hard to believe removing those files would not have any adverse effect on using your gmail on the BB - does removing those cod files do anything to the operation?
I am not really having battery issues. Then again, as soon as I installed 5, I install Driphter's 10hybrid. Battery drainage associated with this as well, but when you do five or so battery pulls to let it settle in, it's good. Driphter is awesome.
Removing those CODs really doesn't hurt you. It just removes the labels and a couple other small features. I still send/receive fine and if I need to look up something I actually fire up the Gmail app.
What led you to find that the Gmail cod's were causing this problem? I am just curious.
i second that, i'm also interested in how you figured out these cods are the problem. did you use meterberry or something to monitor the battery?
i find it hard to believe that these cods would cause a battery drain, especially since they aren't linked to the gps or radio.. (thats to the best of my knowledge)
I'm having better battery life for some reason. I'm able to go way longer. I stayed on 100% with heavy texting and downloading about 6 apps and web browsing for almost 2 hours. After about 5 hours of heavy use I'm at 80%. This is my regular battery too. I do have an extended battery. I have an external charger and 3 batteries though so I'm not too worried if it does start going down faster.
