i downloaded the offical os 5 and then when installing it found out that i needed a bb data plan which i dont have, if i where to install a leaked virsion instead would that work? or if all else fail if i borrowed a sim card who had the bb data plan and put it in my phone just so i could download it does anyone know if that would work??
delete vendor.xml and do it using loader.exe but even when it says you need to have a DP you don't because i don't yet i can still install on the DM
then i have no idea what i'm doing wrong! i tried using the APPLOADER thing, and all it said was "theres no apps to be loaded" or some crap like that, and when i use the DM, it just doesnt do anything :/
now i just tried to do it through the Desktop Manager and it says something along the lines of "Only Active Blackberry service subscribers are entitled to install this Blackberry Device Software Upgrade" -______-

Being a newbie, we have to know if you're even in the right place. I 8530 Storm users stumble in here by mistakingly because of the Curve2 has the same 8530 #.

Alternatively, borrow someone else's sim card who does have a dataplan and use that on your phone to upload the OS, after the process change the sim cards back and you're all set.
i have a Blackberry Curve 8520 on os V4.6.1.259 and have downloaded the offical wind hallas os 5. Thanks hootyhoo i'll give the "Active BB Subscriber" Error a try and see what happens
