For install instruction to load any carrier 8220 OS on your BB:
1. Download desired OS to your PC
2. Install/run OS to PC
3. Delete vendor.xml file. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
4. Connect BB to Desktop Manager and it should prompt the upgrade. If not click app loader and that should initialize it.
5. Do not unplug BB during the process. It will take around 30-60 minutes to complete upgrade.
Just letting you know that it didn't brick my 8220 for T-mobile. I also customized the firmware by deleting "Voice Activated Dialing" (vad) and "Fave Five" software.
hi there... thanks for the update... The previous OS that i downloaded from the thread in the start of the forum is still continuing with the 'reboot' of my phone every now and then on a random basis. Is this new OS in spanish...I mean will it impact any of the applications in terms of the language...? I am just too exhausted loading and reloading the OS on my phone.. it works fine for a few months and sometimes just a few days (like this time around) and then starts rebooting all over again... nearly 30-40mins for a reboot every time!!
Thumbs up! The new 4.6.0.308 OS works great so far, after a week of heavy use. Thankfully my phone does not reboot during sync like it did with 4.6.0.305. Finally I can move on from 4.6.0.278!

I'm having a little trouble with this update. Its my first time updating in...a while. Probably around a year or so from .305 (which I currently have). So I downloaded .308, deleted vendor.xml, connected my bb, it detected the update, I proceed to update, and right before it begins, I get this error...
"There was an error updating your software"
"One or more of the modules could not be resolved"
No error codes or nothing. I unplugged and replugged my bb, tried about 5 times with the same outcome.
Any suggestions as to how I can resolve this issue and update my os?
Thanks!

I followed the steps and apploader updated my phone from version 4.6.0.180 to .200, but couldn't complete the last step of restoring my data. and now the computer won't recognize the phone. so now I can't restore my phone, or downgrade, or do anything cause I can't sync it. Please help!
Disconnect the sync cable and reboot your PC. One time my USB port got wonky like this during an upgrade. Once your PC is booted, start DM and connect the sync cable. Cancel out of the PIM sync and use DM to restore from the .ipd file that got created during the update. Best of luck.
After the last step in which its stated that the device will take 30 min or more to setup the software, i see that the device keeps on switching on and off, is that normal. But it is taking more than 30 mins something like 3 hrs, but still it does not setup the software
I was hving trouble with mine, telling me to do a reset over and over again. So I read were I needed to reinstall the OS so I have tried it every way but the right way I guess. Deleted the Vendor html thing and tried with battery in and battery out. Clicking on loader in apps, using windows xp DOS, and get same results. It hangs when trying to load software. Just sits there blinking. I left it hooked up all day while I was at work. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
