well, just [about] got my new bold 9700 [tmo] working

    some observations

9700 crashed 4 times, just with putting the sim in, before any set up.

once running, I made some test calls, and it dropped every one of them [and crashed once].

    speakerphone is horribly weak/rattles c/f 8800

voice call audio is muffled c/f 8800

    screen is smaller than 8800

webpage font is microscopically small-- tried changing the min font size etc but has no effect.

desktop manager [w/o roxio mm] crashes w error dxtrans.dll 000027b3 trying to use the transfer wizard. [even after clean install]

so I just backed up the 8800 and restored it to the 9700 which seems to have worked

I had not realised how much smaller the 9700 is, than the 8800. [my fault] I had held a 9000, which iirc was about the same size as 8800.

    any tips/comments/fixes welcome

    thanks

PS - I lurved my 8800 but it is on its last legs/disintegrating, so i really want the 9700 to work out.

I had the 8820 world edition before my Bold 9700. Wouldn't trade by bold for anything....accept maybe a few hot babes and a large amount of money, but I'd probably want my bold 9700 back after all the money's gone and the babes left...

My bold has never crashed at all, it must be a defective phone or you might wanna change the OS.

well, its now crashed [literally] twenty times, so its going back.

sometimes it stays on for an hour, but 3G is terrible/intermittent-- I compared it with my 8800 on 2G-- and its quicker

then it just gets its knickers in a twist and crashes/reboots/crashes /reboots half a dozen times. without me even touching it!

all I can remember about my 8800 when I got it, was that I put the battery in and it worked

    a long frustrating day

just wanted to update, in case any others experience something similar

all is working okay now [touch wood!]

I [security] wiped the handset and started over.

I couldnt get the change device/transfer wizard to run before [following the DM instructions] However I got it to run this time by running it before I connected the BB, and then it didnt crash] [XP]

this time it asked to allow various apps to change permissions [sheetstogo47, wordtogo, slideshow] and I allowed all.

only glitch was adding another gmail account thru TMO. I checked " sync contacts" and it wiped nearly all the other contacts in my BB address book, somewhat randomly]

deleted new gmail account, reinstalled backed up address book and re-added gmail w/o sync.

hasnt crashed or dropped a call for 2 days now.

    hope that helps someone
