The onboard memory is 256MB of flash memory. This is used by the OS, themes and apps that have been installed. There is additional storage capacity that can be added via an SD card up to 16GB.

When I was running my 8900 on OS 4.6 (what it came with) I was able to see using Meters (a metering application) that it had around 23Mb of ram with about 10-12 of it free usable most of the time. Now with OS 5.0 I have about 38.3MB of ram with about 18MB of it free usable. I've also found that it varies. Some people's phones have different numbers.
