The onboard memory is 256MB of flash memory. This is used by the OS, themes and apps that have been installed. There is additional storage capacity that can be added via an SD card up to 16GB.

Where are you seeing specs that state 128MB?

According to RIM's "Safety and Product information" PDF on the Curve 8900... here is the breakdown of that 256MB internal memory:

128-MB eMMC memory (on-board device memory), 128-MB flash memory

I believe that is what you were looking for. The document I pulled that from is here:

    Cheers.

The memory specification is the same for each model regardless of badging and branding. Go with the device specs on the official RIM website, Smartphones, Cell Phones & Smart Phones at BlackBerry.com

It varies depending on what OS you're running. When I was running my 8900 on OS 4.6 (what it came with) I was able to see using Meters (a metering application) that it had around 23Mb of ram with about 10-12 of it free usable most of the time. Now with OS 5.0 I have about 38.3MB of ram with about 18MB of it free usable. I've also found that it varies. Some people's phones have different numbers.

This answer is meaningless as it is after the installation of apps and a
different OS. The OP is looking for "out of the box" numbers.
