Hey I have a quick question about track ball replacement. (And sorry if this question was asked before, I could find it on the forums)

Does anyone know if T-mobile does an in store track ball replacement for the bb curve 8900? And if so, how long will it take and how much does it cost?

I miss being able to pop out the trackball on my old curve 8320.

    Thanks in advance

No, they only do that for the 8320. The only way to do that with the 8900 is to take the entire thing a part from the rear.

yeah I know you have to take it apart from the rear, but can they do that whole trackball replacement/ assembly at the store?

or do i have to mail it in to them?

Go ahead, give it a try... I do believe I said "No"... but it's always good to hear someone else say "im not 100% sure" and then you can go running with that... don't color me surprised when you come back and say they can't do it... first, of all they don't have 8900 trackballs in the store... second, they only do trackball replacements for 8320 series... and finally, they are sales reps, not service techs, they have no idea how to take a Blackberry apart... so, NO they don't do trackball replacements on the 8900... but don't let me stop you from asking if they will do that for you...

Have you called them and asked? I'm not sure if the warranty thing covers it. It might.

From what I hear most newer models they don't have individual parts in store.

Don't let one or two people let your air out. I went to a T-Mobile store two weeks ago and dude took my phone apart and replaced my trackball in about 10 minutes and it cost me $10.00. Where there's a will there's a way!

I work at an apartment complex and one of our residents is a manager at the TMO call center in the blackberry dept. She supervises tech and said they could do it at the store. I just haven't had any issue with my 8900 that would warrant me checking into it.

Wouldn't hurt to ask them. The worse they can say is no. What's wrong with your trackball?

The only sure way is to contact someone that works in a T-Mobile store and ask them directly .

I have found that corporate stores will always say no, but the store I worked at was not a corp store, my boss would do just about anything possible to make money lol we did do track ball replacements on 8900's for 15 bucks. And also, a side note.. the 8900 and 8300 use the exact same track ball
