    Sorry if THIS is a thick question, but what is BB Bold Scanner? If it's an app, what does it do? No one else seems to know yet.

    The camera is used to scan barcodes, of course a laser would be more cool. You access it in Messenger or with one of numerous apps.

    the camera works as a scanner, in the "invite a contact" menu you choose scan barcode and you have to focus that "funny square barcodes"

    New problem is now getting it to scan a group barcode straightaway. My Nokia N82 does it fine. Little box pops up, locks on and it's done. For some reason my Bold won't scan. Any ideas?

    Infact now it's on a loop trying to focus and it can't and won't let me exit the program.

    What "other ones" do you want to scan? The BBM scanner is meant to be used with BBM.

    At the moment I'm having trouble just scanning them. I also want to be able to scan the ones on Pepsi cans or on cinema posters.

    Like fatboy97 said, the scanner in BBM is really only meant to work for adding contacts and groups in BBM.

    In order to scan a barcode on a cinema poster you will need an app that scans QR codes, like ScanLife.

    However, the barcode on a can of Pepsi is I believe UPC, and you'll need an app like Edocrab which is used for comparison shopping.

    To be honest I probably won't do it but since other more basic phones like my old Nokia N82 could do it I wondered why I couldn't do it on my Bold. Plus I've seen more of those barcodes on other items in shops and on movie posters so I wanted to be able to do it.
