Nextel shows the 8830 as an eligible upgrade phone for my BB 7520 but I can't get a straight answer as to whether it will have the "Push-To_Talk" Direct Connect feature. Some sites say the 8830 has the capability others don't show it. Can anyone verify this one way or the other?
I upgraded from a Nextel 7520 to an 8830. The catch is that you have to switch to Sprint. Which means no more Direct Connect (push-to-talk). But the Sprint EVDO data network on the 8830 is lightspeed compared to the 7520.

I made the switch, 8830 great devise. PPT is missed though, I used mine more that I used my minutes. I just go tired of carrying the old BB 7520 that was becoming out dated. If you switch, you'll love the 8830!
It is unfortunate that that many feel that Nextel is a dying netwok. I hope that it doesn't die and I hope that Sprint/Nextel will see the continued need for the PTT feature and the need for them to offer it on a better Blackberry phone. I just recently purchased a 7520 (yes a little late I guess), but I love it! I don't know how I have done without it for so long. Please Sprint/Nextel, don't give up on your dedicated customers or you may lose them to other carriers.
How is att push to talk is it comperable to nextel? cause we tried sprint "ready link" and hated it!!! so delayed and it was pretty much a rediculously delayed phone call
