Usually when you upgrade to a higher O.S it has improvements such as battery life. But when you update to a new O.S that is still inBETA it can be a little buggy.(Frozen screens or lagging) I updated my 8520 to 5.0 and thus far have had only alittle lag during start up. in order to update your O.S you can follow the directions in the 101 lectures(which is how I learned amongst other things like bringing back a bricked bb) makesure you back up your info via desktop manager before you do anything else just in case you lose your info in the process you have a back-up.
