Instructions for installing on ANY carrier's device:
1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.
The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Reason: added install instructions for any carrier of 8530
Only thing I caught new so far is folders in my download folder for pics/music
Oh, and the messages folder (which usually catches all) can be changed by going to the message folder, opening it, and choosing options and then inbox options.
Is this only for Sprint people or can Verizon people download this too without messing up the phone?
This is a sprint specific release, there are ways to install it on a vzw phone, but if there are issues you'll have no vzw support. (But plenty in these forums).
Search around, there are tutorials (and I'm sure someone will post a link to one here soon).

I installed this early this morning and so far I am very impressed with this release. Thus far I have had no hourglass issues like I was having with .395. I also agree with the above poster regarding the browser, mine seems to be loading much quicker than it was. No issues at all so far.
I installed this on a Verizon 8530 last night. So far I am noticing considerable improvement over both .337 and .395. BB maps works much better, the browser is much faster and the device in general is faster. Unfortunately the batter life is still mediocre.
1. When viewing pictures, they all seem to be low res until you zoom or use the Slide Show.
2. when viewing a picture, they broke out "Set as..." in the full menu list to "Set as Wallpaper" & "Set as Caller ID".
3. When I update to this OS, the "Yahoo email" icons were replaced with the "Default email" icons.
Fixed:
Battery life is very improved
Icon issues are fixed (no large or misshapen icons)
Black screen bug after a phone call is gone
No leftover notification icon on messages folder after a message is checked/sent
