I have been a faithful BB lover and user for over 2.5 years - not long compared others but nonetheless. I owned a BB Curve and Tour (VZW) and really loved both. My nephew is an iPhone freak and I enjoyed the back and forth battles for over 2 years. Recently, my brother who swore he would never get a smartphone, bought an iPhone over Christmas. It made me take a closer look at the email capability with our Yahoo account we use for our small business.

I have read all the negatives about the iPhone not having this and that - but what I realized is that the iPhone is so much more intuitive on every level. The lie that iPhone does not have push email or 'true' push email is a lie. The iPhone has push email - our Yahoo account is just as fast as on my BB. There is a HUGE difference. I can see all our folders on the iPhone, read a message and place it in whatever folder it belongs instantly. The texting is great as well - everything is right there. The multi-media is superior and the internet browser - WOW damn that is fast!

I wish I didn't let me allegiance to BB and my own stupidity block me from the truth about the iPhone - it is superior is almost every respect. I have come to believe that BB users love them because they are more difficult and challenging to solve issues - that may be great for some but I want to enjoy my smartphone - not spend wasted hours figuring out what the **** is wrong with my BB. Last point - I have had nothing but great experience with AT&T service - I live in Northern MD along the PA border and my brother lives in the Tennessee country - not an issue with dropped calls or lack of 3G.

I am off to enjoy the iPhone....

You have not been set free. You have been tricked into a closed source produced that will dictate what you can and cant do. I hope you really don't like multitasking b/c you cant now. So have fun in your little socialist utopia with your Icrap.

Wow, calm down. I owned an iPhone before coming to Blackberry, and now to a Droid. You can multitask if you jailbreak. Even without it, I found I only needed it when I wanted to listen to Pandora while doing something else. You can check your email, switch to look up a website, send an SMS, etc.
I don't see why people get so harsh because someone else prefers a different phone. If you said that in real life to someone who just exclaimed "Hey I just got an iPhone" people would honestly look at you as if you were crazy.

Don't people respect other people's choices here?

Its not about preferring a different phone, its Apple. The way that they operate is what drive me nuts. I have two line b/c I like cell phones. My other phone is a Gzone that is water resistant and you can throw it against a wall. I am thinking about getting a Motorola Droid or a Plan Pre Plus, but I will always have one line for a Blackberry.

It may be poor taste to post on a BlackBerry forum how much our devices are inferior to another device based on features and issues that we are all well aware of. Moving on to a new device that you appreciate and find productive is great. Bashing the devices that everyone else here uses and loves because you have made a different choice seems unnecessary. But to each his own I guess. Good luck with your Iphone. Its a great device. And the Iphone section of this forum is really helpful.

I just switched over from an iPhone. Even jailbroken, with all the necessary apps for multitasking and a nice theme installed, I prefer my new Bold 9700 in almost every way - other than the browser. I love how you can customize so many aspects of everything, making it easier to live with a BB in the long run. BBM is fantastic and so is leaving messaging services on in the background and getting notifications in the status bar when needed. Push e-mails exist on the iPhone and the BB, so that's not an issue, and I don't really think that the OS 5.0 UI is as dated as some suggest.

I also love how everything on the BB is so nicely integrated. I do miss some of the iPhone's applications, but even then, there are only a couple I will miss - Facebook, which is comparitively rubbish on the BB, and SoundHound (a music retrieval service).

Enjoy your iPhone - I know you will. The apps, the browser, the UI, it's all fantastic. But it doesn't really mean BB's are any less useful for the rest of us, and it certainly isn't superior in every respect. It depends on your usage.

    Cheers.

I owned an iPhone for a couple of weeks. Take my advice:
    1. ALWAYS carry around a charger (wall or car)

    And

    2. Get to know the redial feature. It's going to help out with all of those dropped calls.

Some people take this stuff WAY too seriously. Sometimes I can't believe the responses people give on here. I myself am a BlackBerry fan. I despise touchscreens and the BB does everything I need it to so I'm sure I will be sticking with them. But I am all for people using the phone that serves them best, regardless of what kind it is. I'm glad you've found a phone you can really enjoy! For the life of me, I can't understand why some people on here want to force BlackBerrys on everyone. If a person finds a phone that works better for their needs, then go for it! Why settle with a phone you don't enjoy as much? It's YOUR money, YOU choose how you spend it.

The iPhone is great if you live where the cell phone usage is equal to the number of teeth their owners have left. Unfortuantely it's useless to big city folk.

If I'm not mistaken, this is the iPhone section of this forum, correct? So why don't YOU stop coming over here and being a troll?

Myself, I switched from a BB to iPhone and as far as I'm concerned, I'll never have another device. If every new incarnation of the iPhone is as good or better than my 3GS, then I'm always going to be a happy camper.

Look, the BB is a great device, no doubt about it. I'm not going to flame it or bash it. But I got extremely tired of the constant battery pulls (be it actual or an app-simulated one), and the God-awful slow start time after. The BB software and interface seem dated and the browsing experience is horrid. But I did like my BB...until I got my iPhone and realized what I'd been missing.

Icrap? what kind of immature Bs is that? You cant state your opinion without acting like a child and insulting others' choices in phones? Sounds like YOURE the one trying to dictate what phones people should use or not use...

I think its equally poor taste that 99% of the time is the BB users in the IPHONE SUBFORUM bashing on it. This is the iphone subforum, where you know we talk about iphones!!! I didnt see OP go on and on about how inferior BBs are, just pointing out known bugs/shortfalls and why he prefers iphone.

Some people take this stuff WAY too seriously. Sometimes I can't believe the responses people give on here. I myself am a BlackBerry fan. Ding ding ding. Its sad that BB users have to come into our subforum to bash our choice in device. Im glad we have at least one MATURE BB user in here who gets the fact that some people like BB some like iphone, but theres NO excuse to bash on eachother like every thread turns into.

If I'm not mistaken, this is the iPhone section of this forum, correct? So why don't YOU stop coming over here and being a troll?
Look, the BB is a great device, no doubt about it. I'm not going to flame it or bash it.
Again, 100% correct. Glad to see another mature poster in here, breath of fresh air that some of us can still discuss without bashing each other.

I've had three blackberrys (8320, 8830 & 8900) and trust me the iPhone blows the blackberry away in all aspects. The browser on the iPhone is unbelievable. The screen size is also wonderful. I prefer the email on the iPhone than on the blackberry. The apps on the blackberry where lame. The apps and on the iPhone are amazing. BBM is overrated. There are other messaging apps out there. BBM is not the only messaging application ever created. The video quality on the iphone is awesome whether your watching or making one. Internal memory on the BB's was horrible. I would download a few apps and the phone was full. I was also getting tired of battery pulls. I'm sorry, but you can't talk crap about the iPhone unless you've never had one.

I've had 4 bb's the 8130, 9530, 9550 and 9630 and while it's unfair to compare the iPhone to a non touchscreen bb, it certainly even blows the Storm2 out of the water... I loved my storm2 but constant bat pulls and crappy vzw 3g coverage/service in western Cleveland and when my gf would ask me to look something up it got to the point where she'd just say, nevermind I'll do it lol the only way the bb os will ever compare to the iPhone is when they start putting the apps on the memory card instead of the internal flash memory... whoever designed that up should be fired lol

I have 65 apps that take up roughly 650mb of the space on my iPhone try that with a Storm2

I have realized I have been set free too !! Can't wait for the new 4G or 4.0 firmware to be release this summer

And yes you can't talk crap the iPhone unless you've never had one, Apple is far superior when it comes to just about anything these days, even tho I think the iPad is ridiculous but I'm sure they'll sell millions of them lol
