Do you have multiparty on you account? I don't think the option is actually "conference" but "join conference" instead. You need multiparty on your account and by default 3 ports are allowed meaning your phone ties up one port leaving 2 more for you to add on. Some carriers default to 6 port multiparty.

Can you make a call then place it on hold and make another? The is a network service not a phone service.

    yes above i can do

Three tech support says that the conference feature should automatically come up when I have two calls, which my phone is not responding too, three also stated because I can receive 2nd incoming call the 3 network is working fine

While on either call, press menu, then press 'join conference'... do you see this button when you have 2 calls on the line?

What OS and carrier? Not a hybrid OS correct? The phone software has to support conferencing but I have never seen this be absent on any 9k or 9700 ROM.

Call your carrier and specifically ask if your account has multiparty provisioned and if so which one - 3 or 6. This is a GSM/UMTS service that MUST be on the account (done in the HLR) before it will work. If it is there I would suggest re-installing the OS. You are not roaming?

Again, ask your carrier if multiparty is provisioned on your account.
