Is the 419 version is better than the 328? What are known problems?

*awaits Civic to tell you how they're both horrible, awful pieces of "isht"* :P

Haha, regardless...I've had much better luck with memory stability in .419. I'm currently running on my 121st hour, with 3.6MB app memory. I typically boot with 36-38MB.
App memory is only a piece...
.328 has the screen dimming bug, worse with memory, stronger radio, multitouch typing
.419 has new keyboard hover effect, popup keys, no screen dimming, SMS line bug

Either way, they're both solid builds, though I would go with .419 for the screen dimming. The differences between the two are more preferential issues imo

.419 is a better OS, but it does still have a couple of glitches. There is a speed dial glitch that results in the speed dial not working properly, but this can be resolved by ensuring you enable the reduced keyboard for portrait mode (the one with two letters per key).

Some people have also noticed a glitch when using the browser... if they type too fast in text boxes, the keyboard will periodically disappear.

And the SMS line bug that people keep talking about (black lines showing up in SMS) can be resolved by changing the SMS options to show the texts as stripes, not bubbles.

Overall though, .419 feels like a better OS, and given that most of the little glitches can be resolved, all the better.

One of the big downfalls of .328 is that a lot of people experienced problems with Voice Activated Dialing. .419 is way way better and actually has a functioning VAD.

Absolutely. In fact, they should come disabled. To enable or disable them go to Options > Screen/Keyboard and scroll down to "Show Key Indicator." You can make your selection there.

.328 for me....typing is better with the multi touch and you don't have to type slow in your browser so that your keyboard doesn't randomly hide.

Considering typing is such a core function I can't deal with .419

It's official for MTS Mobility and Bell Mobility in Canada. Verizon has not yet made it official, meaning that if you want to upgrade, you need to delete the Vendor.xml file and if you have any problems, you will need to downgrade before going to Verizon for support. Of course, if you have problems, you can also try here first.

I had to stick with .328.... the signal strength in .419 just did not work for me.

With .328 I normally stay on 1XEV, granted I may have no bars or only one but I'm locked in. With .419 I was always going from "Searching" up to maybe 1xev if I was lucky. This always searching for signal cased my battery to drain really quickly.

That said .419 may be great if you live and work close to a tower.

biig +1 from me on this too.

Losing multitouch is like going back to the stone ages. .328 works great for me, so the very marginal improvements in .419 are definitely not worth it in my case

Umm no offence to all the silly posters but it really isn't close. .419 is clear winner and OS is nearly flawless. Its really not close at all

I am definitely enjoying .419 mainly because I can seek and skip around while watching streaming video (youtube). Stability is better in .419 also and I like the new keyboard hover effect, it makes it clearer which letters you are pressing. Additionally, I am rocking .419 with the full java from .451 from the 9500 release and loving it!

I also highly recommend BerryJoose as I have seen a noticeable increase in stability and responsiveness since purchasing and installing that program.

I am running this too and so far it's better than .419 because
    a) speed dials work even with full portrait keyboard selected
    b) The keyboard does not hide randomly while typing in the browser

those were my two main issues with .419

I still don't like the lack of multi-touch typing and this hybrid does not fix the black lines while scrolling SMS in bubbles view as someone else said it did. But it's at least acceptable for now.... straight .419 wasn't for me.
