I am looking for replacing my 8830 WE. So what does people recommend for a global traveler?

    Thanks,

Wait a few weeks and get the Tour 2. CDMA/GSM/3G like our 8830, plus WiFi. 4 times the system memory (256Meg) for apps and programs to run. There is 2 Gig built in for media/files/etc. Still have the SD slot for more. The trackball, that I have replaced twice on mine, is replaced by a trackpad.
    All that plus 5.0 OS.

I replaced my 8830 with the 9630 last summer. I've been very happy with it, but the Tour 2 is likely to be an even better device for all the reasons terryb99 gave.

The 9630 can be fine if you don't need all of the bells and whistles, but you'd probably start kicking yourself later if you got one now.

Compared to the 8830, the 9630 is already the full orchestra! But I agree that if a Tour 2 came out two months after you bought a Tour, you'd likely be disappointed.

Hopefully the phone will support 850/1900 UMTS/HSPA. I still can't see myself spending $500-$600 on a phone that is still limited to 2G/CDMA technology.
