Well I finally upgraded and been using the 9700 for just 24 hrs ...... just try to get the hand of the trackpad and smaller keyboard but first impressions are good.
How have you guys who came from the 9000 finding the 9700?

I was a little worried that I wouldn't get along with the keyboard, but after a couple of days of heavy texting and emailing, I was just as fast and accurate as I was with my original Bold. I like the trackpad, but i don't see a huge advantage over the trackball. I think that the black trackball is more than sufficient, but the trackpad is a nice touch especially for aesthetics. The 5.0 OS is great. Some new features that I really like. Not having the bigger screen size doesn't bother me because I didn't do a great deal of movie or video watching. So I don't really miss it. The camera and video recorder are miles ahead. It seems like an incremental upgrade on paper, but it is so much more. The battery life on the 9700 is a lot better. I can get two full days and then some with heavy usage. I used to get about a day from my 9000. The overall feel is more solid and performance is better. I haven't had a random reboot yet. I have had my 9700 for two weeks. That is pretty good, because my Bold did a random reboot two to three times a week. Overall I am loving the new 9700. The look, feel, performance, everything is better.

Hey dwaynewilliams thanks for your impressions on the 9700

I was used to OS 5.0 as I had installed every beta release on my 9000 and glad to see it was there on the 9700

Just the keypad practice for so some heavy txting an email coming up as I use it to email a lot for business ...

I do miss the screen size of my 9000 for movies and the awesome speaker sound for music. That being said, I think the 9700 is great! It fits my hands perfectly, the 5.0 os makes it seem faster, the battery life is a god send, and the memory is unbelievable. Its really nice not having to check my memory or do a lot of battery pulls.

I went from the 8310 to the 9000 to the 8900 and now have the 9700.. I have no regrets not having any of them anymore. Thats how good the 9700 is. Best blackberry made to date.

I've had mine 3 days now (coming from 8830WE) and got used to the size pretty quickly.

I knocked the trackpad sensitivity down to 60 both ways and like it much better now. Either the trackpad was too fast for me, or I was too slow for it, but the stock 70 was too rapid.

Dont notice too much difference in the keyboard size to be honest. I have large hands and trained myself long ago on these mini qwerty's. I pretty much use my thumbs as stationary pile drivers and manipulate the phone around under them with the rest of my fingers

I have a few things installed and memory is at 132.8MB. Phone is FAST compared to the old 8830 warhorse.

The 9000 has 1 gig of internal memory for storage. The 9700 doesn't. But they both have expandable slots

9000 has 1 gig of internal memory? but that is for storage...who care about storage...u can pick up a cheap 8 gb sd card for under $20 now a day. i think 9000 has 128 MB of internal memory for apps and themes. 9700 has twice as much..256 MB ram.
