This has been posted in the Hybrid/Beta OS section but not sure if any of you are aware of this hybrid release.

This is the most advanced and ideal solution for anybody with a Curve 8330 to run OS 5.0

Using the 5.0.0.230 as a base (give us a new base leak!!!)

    This is the file makeup:

    5.0.0.230--4%
    5.0.0.238--28%
    5.0.0.273--2%
    5.0.0.287--1%
    5.0.0.296--3%
    5.0.0.337--1%
    5.0.0.344--1%
    5.0.0.351--1%
    5.0.0.386--3%
    5.0.0.405--4%
    5.0.0.411--2%
    5.0.0.421--1%
    5.0.0.436--49%

The release and more information can be found here:

I am very new to BB and do not know how to do this. Any help would be much appreciated. Should I just wait for Verizon's update? Again, I apologize. I'm a BB rookie.

With all due respect to the hybrid gurus, and to you, I recommend you stick to the official carrier OS that came on your BB for now. When you get more familiar with the BB OS and device, then you can start experimenting.

I am pretty tech savvy, and I still will not mess with hybrid and/or leaked OS downloads. Not to say that they are not that good, because I have read that the hybrids have helped out so many people, rather the problems would most likely stem from a mistake I made myself, whether forgetting a step or having my BB (or me) go to sleep before the full process is done. LoL. And although I could (and have) recover a nuked BB, I would much rather spend my time checking on my stocks, catching up on texts and emails, and following up on clients! Good luck!

There is a very good reason we have a seperate sub forum for beta test and experimental hybrids.

If this thread were allowed to remain in the high visibility device or general discussion forums, many new members will be confused.

@bjustice, Don't do it. Hybrid software is created by individuals that have no knowledge of the internal workings of a BlackBerry. It's all trial and error, mostly error.

Great hybrid, This has to be the easiest install ever. My 8330 works extremely well now. Load times are faster, movement through the menu's are also faster.

    Thank you<

I was wondering if any of these hybrids have BB maps/GPS working? App world I don't care too much about, but it would be a plus. I love the 5.0 release, but the slowness was brutal on it.

It does seem to be a little more stable with some people reporting less memory leak. The biggest difference for me is BBM group typing has less lag. I didn't really have a memory leak problem and the battery life isn't too bad either.

I wipe every time I install an OS just to make sure I'm not carrying any old problems over to the new OS, but that's just me.

The BBMaps works for some and doesn't for others. This seems to be a carrier issue and not the OS its self.

Not sure why your experiencing slowness. If your moving from 4.5 to 5.0.0.230 and didn't completely wipe the old device you would still have the old settings. One of the things Birdman (the original hybrider for this series of hybrids) found is slowness and excessive memory leaks/usage was caused by old settings still in affect.

Definitely faster for me, however I lost Docs to Go and MemoPad. I pasted them into the Java folder, as per the instructions, but they didn't work. Any ideas?

BTW, the version I get says .238. Is that right?

[EDIT] Figured out to upload DTG using the COD files. Definitely faster than hybrid version I was using before.

Only if you do a alt + shft + H it will read .436.
If you look at the about screen it will show .238

I've tried 7.0, 8.0, and 8.2, but I found that for my Curve, Birdman's hybrid 6.5 works the best. MINIMAL memory leak and just about every app works well. That's just my experience though.

I have found that 5.0 themes will work with this os but it has to be the 8530 or 8520 themes that work.

I have no idea except 8.2 works and nothing previous to it did, every previous leak/hybrid lasted only a day or so before I went back to 4.5. in total frustration.

    Anyone else having this problem:

I cannot use the extra included themes with 8.2 or any dl'd ones. They show up as applications, but not in the "themes" menu. The only one that shows up is default one.

I had the same issue with V6. Any ideas?

I'm running 8.2 and have NO themes other than the Zen Precision, none show up as applications or anywhere else....

I can go to 'options' from the home screen and select the 'today' theme but it only changes the icons on the home screen to 'Messages', 'Phone' and 'Calendar' which isn't very helpful.
