I am on T-Mobile UK with my Blackberry Curve 8900 currently running OS 4.6. I'm wondering how I can upgrade to OS 5.0. Will that be released eventually by T-Mobile or do they have no control over software updates?
Yes, you can. I am with Vodafone UK and have just updated my software with the latest v5.0.0.411 (East Asia) for 8900. Just follow these steps...
1. Download OS to your PC
2. Install OS to PC
3. Disconnect your PC from the internet
4. Delete vendor.xml file. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
5. Connect BB to Desktop Manager and it should prompt the upgrade. If not click app loader and that should initialise it.
6. Do not unplug BB during the process. It will take around 30-60 minutes to complete the upgrade.
is there an OS 5.0 release for AT&T users available? How do we access and download/install ??
No... it's not official for AT&T yet... maybe one of the future releases, but not yet.

Pros/Cons... not really... but http://forums.crackberry.com/f95/bla...leaked-381664/ is the next best thing... lots of reading, but that's what it's all about... this is directly out of the BETA OS forum where it was first posted.
I was able to use my VMWARE software on my partioned mac hard drive to flash my 8900 curve to 5.0.0.411 via loading destop manager onto windows vista.....works like a charm no problems whatsoever....I got one question however....does anyone know how to install mac deskstop manager on mac version 10.4?....seems like the software only works on 10.5 and above...I will pose this question ova the mac users forum as well.
