I know it has been discussed at some length but if I upgrade at bestbuy are they responsible for the phone in the 90 day warranty period? AT&T corp store is pushing me to the iphone for some unknown reason and I don't want to deal with mail in rebates.
The best buy rep said that the 9700 was not reliable and they have had tons of returns. WTF is his problem?

Well everyone knows that the Best Buy reps know what's best for us
The AT&T folks always push iPhones... it's something in the water they drink.
If you buy from AT&T and have a problem, you can take it back there and walk out with a new one. Not sure about this with Best Buy, but you can ask their rep. As for reliability, the BB rep is full of it. They are as reliable, perhaps even more than any other device out there. Some folks have had initial build problems, but those were mostly the early ones. I know plenty of 9700 owners personally and not a single problem among them.
With any phone, there are going to be a few rotten apples. I wouldnt let the sway your opinion. Also, don't let the ATT reps convince you to get something you don't want. Get the Bold 9700 from best buy. From what I remember they have a pretty good return policy. Its as good if not better than ATT's.
