Yea, so I'm not a big fan of pattern locks, so I was wondering if there was a good alternative, or something that would just lock certain apps?
    thanks

EDIT - oh, and whats the best way to backup settings, messages, contacts, etc?

    Thanks again.

I love patternlock. So much that i even purchased it for my storm. You could use a good old fashioned password to lock your phone.

Actually it looks like there is nothing native... There may be something to download in the market but pattern lock is actually quite secure.

The number of combinations for a 4-digit pin are 10,000 (10^4). The math for the unlock pattern is a bit more complicated, since you choose how many dots to use, but at its least secure 4-dot sequence, there are 3,024 combinations (9*8*7*6). Adding a fifth dot makes it 1.5-times as secure as a 4-digit pin with 15,120 combinations (9*8*7*6*5). The Droid unlock pattern can have as many as 362,880 patterns (9!).

Odds are odds. But someone looking over your shoulder sees your password once remembers it forever.

I'd rather not start a new thread for these two questions, so i'll ask here. What's a decent-working home replacement app BESIDES Home++? I can't stand not having a notification bar. And is it possible to change the unlock screen to something beside the home background?

    Thanks!

You can unhide the notification bar in Home++ by long pressing the little notifications icon on the power strip.
