So don't count on that happening anytime soon. Also I'm sure everyone would leave Telus if they did that.
12-23-09 01:44 PMLike 0 - Thats what I was thinking, because isn't it technically voiding the contract that we signed on for (ie. I signed for these features for $60?)12-23-09 04:32 PMLike 0

- I have made a switch of plans from an old CDMA to a new HSPA based plan. Generally if you're switching upward/upgrade, you're okay to switch without extending your term. If you downgrade, there may be a change fee, but see if they can waive it (for good customer service)
I actually saved about $10/month by switching to the new plan I'm on versus paying the stupid nickel and diming SAFs and all that stupid stuff. Try it out...but keep in mind, I'm already paying pretty high monthly service fees because I use my BB that much, but hope you can win too.01-26-10 11:23 AMLike 0 - Okay.. well I just got an email from Telus themselves.
I just want to clarify..
"Please note that on March 4th, 2010, the monthly fee for Call Canada 30, Nationwide 30, North America 35, or Unlimited Web, Email and Instant messaging will increase by $5.
We recognize that you have a choice for your wireless service and we thank you for chossing Telus."
Since I still got like 1 year and 4 months left on my contract. I guess I can cancel my phone now and avoid the ETF??
Can someone clarify please I'd so love to do so because I can't wait to switch to Fido.
Thanks!02-01-10 05:16 PMLike 0 - I was SO hoping I'd be able to cancel it. But nonetheless.. I guess I'll cancel it in May when I'm down to my 1 year remaining =X.
Ah well. . Was still a good opportunity
(I'm now posting this for the third time as there are three seperate threads on this).
Has anyone even tried calling Telus????????
I just got off the phone with them and so long as you have this plan right now, you will be fine as you've been grandfathered. The plans will be changing for future changes (so lets say you want to add unlimited data or a Call Canada plan after March 4th on an existing account - the price will go up by $5/month versus what you could get it for now).
If you already have one of these plans in effect, you will be fine and you should see no changes.
Please ensure you have all the facts before posting something like this.02-02-10 06:49 PMLike 0 -

What options are there because as previously stated a unilateral rate hike is....not allowed as per the CWTA right? Like i'm not trying to cause a rukus here but i'd like to here some well put together answers because i'm tempted to call in again and hear an answer from someone else to see if thats changed since I originally called in.
I mean short of emailing the VP of L&R (god how I wish I still had my employee email address) and asking him myself, i'm really at a loss of what to do here to get the correct information from the correct person who is credible.02-03-10 02:12 AMLike 0 - A rate hike is allowed if it doesn't effect people who are currently subscribed to those plans.
I'll call again later today to confirm with another CSR, but this is does make the most sense as never anywhere (including in the original Mobile Ninja story) did it say that it would impact customers currently subscribing to those plans. I do also have a contact within the Telus Corporate department and if I don't get a sufficient answer from the CSRs, I'll get him to look further into this.02-03-10 02:39 AMLike 0 - Has anyone got an update to this? I hate the living **** out of telus terrible service. I'm sick of them nickel and diming us for second rate service like this. (NO MMS?!?! WTF TELUS)
Can we cancel and get the **** out of telus town with no etf?
Wind is starting to look better and better

02-03-10 08:20 AMLike 0 - Ok, looks like I was wrong after further requests for information. This is from an eCare specialist and basically is the answer to our questions:
"If you do have one of the plans listed for increase, that plan will be subject to the increase."
Note though, as this isn't changing the service they are providing an it's not changing the price of our actual service plan, I doubt we can cancel the contract (although maybe you can call Telus and raise a big enough stink that they will do something for you).02-03-10 02:35 PMLike 0 - I feel bad for the girl I'm on the phone with... she's gotten a real earful and has had to go back to double-check everything.
Anyhow, here's the catch for those of you hoping you can cancel your contract. Because this is considered an add-on and is not included in your rate plan, Telus can indeed do this. Telus' new rate plans include data, so they won't be able to increase those plans, but because the unlimited data is a seperate add on, we're out of luck.
If you don't use that much data, you can drop the unlimited data and go to the data add-on plan and get 500MB for the same price. And if you currently have the unlimited data plan and do drop your plan, Telus hasn't ended the unlimited data plan yet and you can re-add it later again if you want (but of course, at the new price).02-03-10 03:11 PMLike 0 - I ended up changing my plan. Now they can get less money from me and I can finally tether with my BB Storm. Ultimately, what was the use of paying for an unlimited data plan if you couldn't tether and you never went over 250MB anyhow. Now, I can get internet on my laptop when I need it, so long as I'm not downloading movies, etc.
I'm missing out on a couple of extras, but realistically, I never used them anyhow. And they threw in a couple of things for free to help match my previous plan, so good enough for me.Last edited by Krypto; 02-03-10 at 08:09 PM.

All other charges and services are subject to change within 30 days notice. So if for example you had a Smartphone 50 plan they would be unable to change to $55 during your contract or reduce your minutes from 100 to 50.
However long distance rates, local airtime rates, any value added services can be changed, they can remove voicemail if they like or call waiting or conference calling.
There isn't any recourse and you can't get out of your contract. Other Canadian carriers have similar clauses basically covering their butts. I do believe in the US it works differently when carriers make drastic changes but not here.02-04-10 12:56 AMLike 0
