Just got my 8900 this morning (free upgrade from T-Mobile UK) and I must say I AM impressed with it so far! One thing I don't like is the rather flimsy battery door, it just doesn't seem to have the same build quality as the rest of the phone - does anyone know if it is possible to get a metal one?

I've never seen metal replacement parts for BlackBerry shells.

You really should put the phone in a shell case anyway, so the battery cover won't ever be seen. Every contract phone should be protected from even minor damage, at least until the warranty expires.

I put some very thin foam tape on the back of mine so when it clicks, it is more secure and not wobbly. Hope it helps.

I've never tried aphqelectronics, but they have a lot of metal ones to choose from: www dot aphqelectronics dot com, then search for 8900 metal door. Check out the metal ones at the bottom as opposed to the "metallic."

I would get it but I have a case on my phone so even if I buy one, I wouldn't really see or even feel it at all. Kind of a waste of money then. :P

Mine isnt totally snug either but I like how easy the latching mechanism makes it to remove the battery cover on this model compared to some of the other berrys

The only thing that sucks is that standard shipping was like 5 bucks which is fine, but the 5-7 day shipping was 29.99. That being said, I'm not expecting it anytime soon i just couldnt bite the $36 dollar bullet. I will post pics as soon as I recieve it.

I purchased this productBlackBerry Javelin Curve 8900 Metal Back Door Battery Cover - Black and i recieved my package yesterday with a oem style plastic black door with a "metal" looking finish on the back. NOT METAL AT ALL! i cant really be mad at a regular black door for 11 bucks, but when i thought i was getting metal I am left a little mislead by the site. unless you want a black plastic door, stay away

They're not gonna use a lot of metal on BBs. A lot of people use cases with magnets in them. A metal back would confuse things imo.
