So, currently I have the BB Curve 8900 with Tmobile. I love this phone EXCEPT the internet is SO SLOW. In fact I dont use it anymore. So I was wondering for those who have used other BB on Tmobile and are currently using the 3G Bold 9700. How does the internet speed compare.
Also I have been reading about known issues about Tmobile not being able to support the 3G on the BB and that there being a lot of dropped calls.
The 3G seems fine to me. No better or worse than other 3G networks. The only dropped call I've had so far was at home and I'm pretty sure it was due to my router not being set up correctly for UMA calling.
My 3G works very well. I haven't had 1 dropped call with it so far and I've had it about a month. But I guess it depends where you're located at. I'm in the detroit area

I'm in NYC and have been fairly impressed with it. I did the side-by-side comparison thing with a friend on AT&T and the loading speeds were comparable.
Savannah, GA is 3g all the time now. I have had a few dropped calls, but nothing to write home about. Internet is fast, faster than EDGE. I still use wi-fi when I can though.

West Los Angeles here. Call quality is outstanding. Never ever a dropped call. Data is fine but use WiFi/UMA more than 3G. When I'm on 3G, I don't really notice much difference in speed over Edge. WiFi/UMA rocks though.
I live in Cincinnati ohio and my 3G speeds hover between 425-500 K/bits. How ever i did get lucky one night when they were test HSPA+ in my local area, which will be live by the end of 2010 from coast to coast in the USA. and i got a avg download speed of 10,305 k/Bits per second and max of 13,341k/bits per second....

I just moved up from the 8900 to the 9700. I havent really noticed a change with the 3G network. It is a bit faster but nothing impressive. Dropped a few calls but nothing out of the ordinary!! Overall I like the 9700. I am on my 3rd one though. Seemed to reboot by itself and was not connecting to the network. Working good now.
Thanks for all the respnoses.
I guess what I am trying to figure out, is it worth the money that I would be paying to upgrade...... I really hate the internet speed on the 8900.....but the question is how much better is the 9700. Anyone hear of any rumors of the STORM coming to TMobile?
I upgraded from 8900 to 9700 but because of the trackball issues with my 8900. I am very happy with the 3g speed, but I would not have upgraded just because of it. Do you use wi-fi with your 8900 for internet?
Charleston SC here. 3G is a little faster than EDGE, but latency is horrible. 120K webpage loads faster on EDGE than 3G for me. Many dropped calls on the 9700, many spontaneous reboots. Going back to the 8900
Agree with Brook completely, issues and all. I'm in the Los Angeles area. 3G is nice, but nothing to write home about. I'm on wifi most of the time, but when I'm not, I don't find myself thinking this phone is slow like I used to with the 8900.
My 3g in hawaii is decent the speeds are good almost equal to my cable connection. although coverage is shotty but they are still developing their 3g networks here.
i owned the curve 8900 on tmobile and i now have the bold 9700 and its way better in my area 3G 95% of the time id say and its way faster for me i live in Stillwater, MN. U could always buy the 9700 and see how it is in ur area and then return it if u dont like the 3G in ur area
I am also a fellow 8900 user. 3G is light years better than EDGE. I love it. Im in 3G coverage 90% of the time though. Tmo is great where i live. Call quality is amazing and i don't believe i have had much dropped calls even under bridges.
