I have read the threads on this issue as it just started happening to me. It seemd like the only solution to fixing this problem is to get a new phone? Is that the consensus? Are there any other solutions?

I'm told it's not unusual that once you go black, you don't come back.

Is it like it is asleep and won't wake up black? or like it's about to die, on it's way out the door black???

If it is the 1st, toggle the lock on/off a few times. That will wake it up.

If it is the 2nd, yeah time for a new phone.

My first storm 1 died doing that. 2nd died with the 4-blinking-led error, Best Buy gave me a Storm 2 for my 3rd replacement. So yeah I think you need a replacement.
