OS 5.0 is not official yet... Them all are leaked os's... If you are not familiar with upgrading the OS, I recommend upgrading to the latest os released by your carrier.

- Backup the device data using Desktop Manager
- Download and Install the OS on PC
- Delete vendor.xml file (C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader)* You do not have to do this step as you are loading your carrier approved OS.
- Connect Bold to PC
- Double Click "loader.exe". This will initiate the OS loading process.
Note: Loader.exe can be found at the same location as vendor.xml file
You should have something official to update to using the wireless update.
You do need to be on at least 4.7 for the new bbm to work. Redownloading it without updating the OS will give the same results.

You cannot go wrong if you follow the steps listed in the other post. Dont have to use DM to upgrade the OS. Try using apploader (loader.exe) and see whether it initiates the process ...

Just make sure you tick the checkbox for BlackBerry Messenger before loading the os on your device...
