RIM is aware of this problem and it will hopefully be fixed with the next update.

I had this issue back with 4.7. Next update 5.0.0.328... Still there.

I'm not complaining it doesn't bother me. Just saying RIM needs to get things done.

Anyone from RIM? Check this out Getting Things Done

P.S. I'm begging to think it would be easier to force all of the ambient light around me to dim or brighten to counter the dimming bug on the Storm rather than have an OS update fix it on the device.

I have had this issue since upgrading to .328 when it was released. It is annoying as all get out. I even took my phone to my local VZW store and had it replaced (tho I was unable to reproduce the error in the store). Once I got the new phone home and did the "device swap" it started dimming again. Yes, the new OS is MUCH better then 4.7 but this dimming bug is killing me! Does anyone know if it's fixed in .425 or if .425 is even out for us here in the USA?

I think the .4xx reports from the 9500 users are indicating that the problem is fixed. It should also be on the 9530 .4xx releases too if that's the case. Just have to be patient I guess...we should get a leak soon. I sure hope it fixes that and some other annoying things so I can survive for a couple more months...

ok wait guys, i have a different problem.
my portrait / landscape never dims.
however, i will be working on my phone, then suddenly it dims (as if there's no activity)
i carry on working as i can still see, then all of a sudden it will be bright again.
not through switching apps or anything. i can be reading a mail then it goes bright.

does this also fall into the same "dimming issue" discussed before?
