Again I went to my local AT&T store to play with the 9700 and I am having a hard time getting used to its smaller screen (vs Bold 9000). I think I'm okay with the keyboard but need more time to decide.

My biggest gripe - no matter how much RIM has beefed up this Bold model, who wants to settle for a smaller screen coming from a 9000?

P.S. As you grow older, you really appreciate a larger screen

I agree. Plus the 9000 is so much sexier than the 9700. Silver Bezel is awesome.

I agree also. I like the screen size and keyboard of my 9000. There are no features of the new Bold that I can't live without.

For me the trackpad is a major improvement. It trumps the slight downsizing of the screen.

Well I tried to stay within his major gripe; the display......but since yall mentioned the awesome trackpad you should also mention the newly designed keypad and try just try to leave out in the process another thing worth mentioning; the memory, yes the 9000=128MB vs the 9700=256, then again opinions vary....LOL

My biggest thing that intrigues me about the 9700 is the battery life. Thats why I want one most..

I agree Battery Life is AMAZING with the 9700. An yes I'm a former Bold 9000 person myself but other than the size issue which is really no biggie to me ...

Everyone is saying the battery life on the 9700 is AMAZING! And yes, it is too small IMO. If it was the same size as the bold 9000 it would be perfect. And also, who doesn't like the red numbers on the keyboard?

    Rich,

You are absolutely right. That's precisely what I thought as well. See my post by clicking on the link in my sig.

Have you also noticed that the screen is not only significantly smaller than the one on the 9000, but it also has this "yellow-ish hue" to it. It's not as crisp and bright white as I would have expected. That was my major dealbreaker with the 9700.

Add to that the fact that it is not 7.2Mbps. That's what I had read in a forum a while back during the time that it was being announced. It's just regular 3G, and doesn't even have the much more widely used 900MHz international band, but rather the 800MHz that is only used in a few spots in Asia. I sold mine a week ago for $550 and I am expecting my rebate card later this month. I was going to give it to my girl, but she wants the Storm2, which looks hot! I was super impressed by it. Oh well. Made a few hundred bucks, so the new Bold is worth making money with. I appreciate the Bold 9700's additional memory, but ultimately, I don't really need more than what the 9000 gives me, even though I run OS 5 with 9 email accounts, and quite a few apps. I still have 21MB free. Battery life doesn't matter to me. Just get a second battery and a cradle that charges a 2nd battery, and you're set.

Has anyone else, found that you liked the new Bold better?

Yes, that's right. I prefer having two batteries, though. How much additional juice does that battery give you? Is it from Seidio?

Is the improved battery life on the 9700 a function of hardware or OS 5.0 (or both)? Will 5.0 give existing 9000 users improved battery life?
