Just talked to a Verizon rep on some billing issues I had, and casually asked about 5.0 OS upgrade for Tour. She stated that they just got an email this week that the 5.0 rollout is scheduled before the end of the month. There was no date stated in the email, other than the release is scheduled to occur before the end of the month, with exact dates forthcoming.

From the looks of the leaked version, the official release should be more than promising. Just waiting for the tabbed browser. Hopefully it'll be better than opera min 5 beta because that browser is getting better and better

Two official OS releases within a month? Based on Verizon's history, that would be amazing...I don't know how much cost or time it takes to "officialize" an OS from RIM but that just makes no sense to me at all to put effort into releasing 4.7 .61 and then straight to 5.0

I was at the Telus Mobility store last Saturday and asked when Telus (here in Canada) would be releasing the 5.x OS - rep told me probably end of this month or early next month. Can't wait.....

From what ive heard from my buddy who works at RIM the official will likely be released in the new yr (first quarter) so i highly doubt it will drop this month...but it would be a great christmas present to blackberry users everywhere if it did!! lol

yeah, with the most recent 4.7.... update so close behind, I wouldn't expect another update (especially the move to 5.0) until January.
