low memory, in need of help!
- i have a good amount of apps on my storm 2 (like 5 3rd party, 10 add on) and some i had installed then decided to delete. My problem is i'm only showing 34 mb of free memory available and i'm getting worried. how can i clear up some memory and feel like i'm in a 'safe zone' again? any pointers and step by step directions would be great, thank you! i did just delete vilingo and did a battery pull thinking that would help, nope. I also save all my pics/videos on my sd card. Help!!! thank you!!12-01-09 02:08 AMLike 0
- wow something seems to be killing your memory pretty bad. If I were you I would delete everything and install each app 1 by 1. This will help you figure out what is causing the issue.12-01-09 02:14 AMLike 0
- Wow that is a lot of memory used up.
Defy try the above and if not helping try reinstalling OS.
Check the forums for help on this.

Could be a database issue, or something of the sort. Something is definitely not right. I've got 40 or so apps installed and I'm not even below 97MB.12-01-09 03:30 AMLike 0

- Don't be so worried. Start off with a battery pull then see where you are at. We are all assuming that you have the storm 2 since this is where you are posting at but your device information says otherwise. The blackberry platform only needs 12MB of memory to function. I don't see you needing to reload your operating system to fix this issue though, that is kinda overkill for a little problem.12-01-09 10:36 AMLike 0

- I have 53 third party apps/themes, 18 add-ons plus the usual core apps and after a battery pull I still have over 80 MB free.
I think someone mentioned above to uninstall everything and re-add them 1 at a time.
Also, a question for you - Did you upgrade from a Storm 1? I have found in the past, as well as others in other forums, that if you do a restore on a new device or OS version from and old one it can wreak havoc on your memory.12-01-09 01:56 PMLike 0 -

Only thing I feel bad about is helping someone out that has a Storm 1 and showing them all the stuff on my phone and having to say "I can have this much stuff but the Storm 1 can't handle all that."12-01-09 04:47 PMLike 0 - i deleted almost all my apps except the ones i totally want like google maps, facebook, etc. i deleted half my emails from 15 days ago cleared all my sms texts. i am currently up to 44.3 mb, this was after my last battery pull right now. i have NO idea what's hogging all my memory!?!? i didn't upgrade from a storm 1 i did switch from a curve. any more ideas to clear stuff up? i would take screen shots but i think that requires an app which i don't have any room for!?!?
here are my list of apps, let me know if you see anything suspicious:
3rd party
- today plus theme
-free tips
-google maps
-multi alarm pro
-my verizon
-theme store
-v cast song id
add on:
-bb app world
-bb app center
-bbm
-docs to go
-ebay
-facebook
-memo pad
-pw keeper
-tasks
-tetris
-sims 3
-yahoo messenger
that's it i deleted everything else. all my pics and videos are on my sd card. any other tips and tricks???12-01-09 04:54 PMLike 0 - You might have to do a hard reset/wipe handheld. Sync your personal info, make sure everything you want to save is on your memory card, delete all apps.
Don't do a backup, just sync it.
One thing I don't know if I saw anyone suggest was make sure your memory cleaning is enabled. Run through a cleaning and then wipe.
After the wipe see what you end up with for memory.
Hope this helps.12-01-09 05:51 PMLike 0 - is the op talking about an S2??? According to his info, he (or she) has a curve. Could this be the rational behind the low mem issue here?12-01-09 05:52 PMLike 0

This is going to be a bit painful unfortunately, but if you haven't already wiped, I'd like you to try something for me.
Go to the Applications list (Options > Applications). Notice each category in the drop down list at the top (Add-Ons, Third Party, and Core).
In each of these categories, go to each application and select the blackberry button and hit view properties. Each of those will have a size associated with it. Write down (or even better put into a spreadsheet if you can) the value for each one.
Then add each of the individual categories up, and tell me what the total usage is for each of them. Also, when you are done with that, tell me what the free application memory is at the point you finished the calculations.
This isn't your total application memory, but it should give us a baseline with which to compare. If it looks like there is a leak somewhere, we should see a number there that does not look to awfully large. If its a program, it might turn out to be something in there that gives us a clue.
Good luck!12-01-09 06:24 PMLike 0 - Nothing on that list looks overly suspicious as to cause a memory leak.

Good idea. This might give us a good baseline as to what is used by each app.12-01-09 06:38 PMLike 0
