My Bold should be here Monday. I'm upgrading from a Pearl to the Bold (TMo). Once I put my sim in the Bold and goto TMo site and switch my Pin and MIE I should be ready to go? Am I right. I assume I may heve to resend the service books if the pin switch does not triger it? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I went from the 8100 to the 9700 myself with T-Mobile. I didn't have any issues.
Make sure you back up your 8100 using Desktop Manager. When you get your 9700, just put the new SIM card in and turn the phone on. I didn't have to go to TMo's site and switch anything. It automatically updated to the phone I had after I turned the phone on.
I did call Customer Care to have them active the Visual Voicemail though and it was at that time that they resent service books for me. I didn't have to do anything else after that except hook the 9700 up and migrate my stuff from the 8100 to 9700 in Desktop Manager. After that, I just played with my new phone.
The 8130 (non-sim) was a great phone. Screen size was the only thing that become a long term issue with me. Then my Storm...As much as I loved using it, the Blackberry OS is not very well suited for a touch environment.
And now my Bold. It is absolutely the best phone I've ever owned to date.
I went to the t-Mo site and entered in my PIN/IEMI number and then pushed the service books again. Don't know if i would have had to but I didn't feel like waiting around to find out. as it was I ended up calling to get the Visual Voice Mail feature. Ah well, that was quick and it works great!
