I'm in Southern CA and have been considering going back to T-Mobile specifically for the BB 9700, but being on Verizon for the past year the 3G (although CDMA) coverage has been amazing I am a bit reluctant to jump ship. Hopefully everyone can share their experiences. Thanks.
Im in NYC and travel alot to outer boros. 3G service is very inconsistent IMHO. Its quite variable. My thoughts are that in a city this size so dependent on cell service TMOBILE 3G should be considerably better than it is. I believe they are experiencing growing pains. They need to play some catch up...
Terrible in South Florida. I get many dropped calls and data speeds are pathetic. I have the phone on 2G only now.
Did you notice a lot of battery drain when it was having to search for a 3G signal? I recall this being an issue when I was with AT&T using the iphone...
Here in San Diego, I'm getting a solid 2.5Mbps downstream. T-Mobile is also upgrading their 3G soon (expected in January) to be the fastest 3G in the nation (from what I'm told, at least), going closer to 5Mbps downstream. That will definitely rival Sprint's 4G whenever it comes out, even though theirs is expected to be closer to 15Mbps (according to a manager at Sprint). But hey, can you really believe that? I don't, honestly.
As far as battery life goes, I talk about 3 hours every day, am constantly reading and replying to emails/SMS texts, as well as researching through the browser amount other things. I'm at a good half battery left when I go to sleep at 11pm.

No problem. Just so you know I switched back to AT&T only because I am a
sim swapper between my BB and iPhone and the T-Mobile experience for my
iPhone wasn't very pleasant. Other than that I found the 3G coverage to be
excellent.
I have to agree that the 3G here in S Florida sucks. I upgraded from an 8900 and honestly I don't see a difference with this phone in terms of web browsing speed. Facebook update download speeds are not what I expected. What pisses me off is that its constantly changing between edge and 3G even though I have 4 or 5 bars. When browsing it is the requesting part that takes forever. Once it starts transferring it seems quick. I tried to tether and got about 500k both ways. Does anyone know of a page that shows what the optimal settings are (APN, etc)?

Same problem here...that's why I switched back to ATT. I was also having issues with BES during the day. All emails/bbms would get delayed sometimes for up to an hour. At night it was working fine and speed was good.
I don't think TMO's 3G Network is good yet...imagine if they carried the iPhone...would probably make the whole network crash
