I think if the screen went all the way to the edge it would be a nicer experience. I am not a fan of the black border around the screen of Tour and 9700.
Yeah. Have to say. Mine is not in my hands yet but coming from a pearl its going to be a huge BB to me. LOL. I was a huge fan of the bold but hated the size. IMO.....the new 9700 is a ladies Bold! Can't get mine fast enough.

Love mine! It's perfectly balanced, feels solid, and the back isn't loose like the original Bold. And just the fact that there are no memory leaks is a huge improvement on the first.
The size is perfect. The screen size is perfect for the size of the device.
I for one love the 9700 (having come from an old 8800, the 9700 is a massive improvement). But I can certainly see how someone coming from the 9000 or someone with very big hands/thick fingers could find the new keyboard cramped. Also the physical screen size is pretty small - but for me, I am a very satisfied customer so far (6 days since I got it).
Having had both a 8310 and 9000, I did like the size of the 9000.
However, the more compact 9700 feels more solid as I had the chance to see one in a company store (the sales rep wouldn't sell it to me until 11/22). The smaller form factor fits better in the pocket as situation calls for it.
This size should not be a deal breaker. The smaller size means that you can hold the device in one hand and type with your thumb. OR You can let nature take its course and get used to it over time. Granted, this is easier if you had a Curve as a previous BB.
Although I haven't seen the 9700 at a TMO store, it looks like a beautiful device. I've play with the Bold before and my first impression was that it was too big for me. According to the specifications, the 9700 has a 2.4" diagonal screen while the 8320, which is what I have now, has a 2.5" diagonal screen size. Is this correct?

i totally agree, i been BB fan for last 5 years and had all flagship BB's, last was Bold 9000, now having this beauty 9700 will never go back to 9000, 9700 is a winner in every aspect, and most is memory issue, after all day use with so many applications run, memory stays stable at 132MB+
i was actually thinking the same thing to. I was gonna use it as a backup to my 9700. The 128MB of memory is what's stopping me. The trackball isn't that big of a deal, because i wuold swap it for a black one. Which won't show the dirt as easy.
I found 9000 to be on a big size for my liking. My first BB was 8320 and it is a perfect size for me. When I switched to 8900 I found the keyboard to be a little awkward to type on, but now I love it.
I am now facing similar dilemma with my new 9700. Perhaps in a few weeks, I will get used to it
My only problem with the size is the keyboard. I don't have the smallest fingers and it isn't as easy to use as the 8320. I am hoping I can get use to it. I'm using it as much as I can during the 14 day return period just in case it becomes a problem.
