So, i went to the opera/next site to get opera mini 5, and it gives me some strange screen regarding not recognizing my device.

Anyone have a direct OTA link they wouldnt mind posting?

Install it. Click run then do a battery pull. It will work when you reboot.

So no one else minds how this program becomes the default browser when the need to open a browser comes up?

Hasn't happened to me either. It installed no problem and I only use it if I open it.

The link I posted before should take you directly to the download page.

Hmmm I tried that link just now and it downloaded just fine for me..

Make sure your browser is set to Identify as BlackBerry

Also, make sure you are on the mobile network, not WiFi. Don't ask me why, but it wouldn't parse the link on WiFi. I have to turn off WiFi to be able to click the link.

I have not seen that behavior.

But I did have to install it via the cellular connection; would not download for me over wifi. Did require a battery pull after install and first launch to run properly, but I understand that's normal for this beta version.

I don't like the way it takes over my email links either. I deleted it. I only use the regular Opera Mini for browsing large sites like Crackberry.com when I want to check out the front page or for banking sites etc. I prefer the native browser even though it is slower for most sites.
